Talk Description
The talk is focused on the health care workers who may need to treat patients presenting with neurotoxic envenomation. A basic description of two of the most commonest snakes responsible for neurotoxic envenomation, namely the Black Mamba and Snouted Cobra is included, and similarities and differences in presentation of symptoms is highlighted. Basic pathophysiology of neurotoxicity is explained followed by case studies to emphasise the logic behind management principles including prolonged ventilation.
