Myeloma is one of the most common haematological malignancies with devastating consequences for patients and the healthcare system, and in South Africa where delayed diagnosis remains a significant challenge, this talk serves as a reminder of the importance of clinical vigilance, early recognition of key diagnostic features, and timely intervention, while highlighting effective therapeutic options such as autologous stem cell transplantation that can meaningfully improve patient outcomes in our setting.
