Immunonutrition is being investigated over decades regarding the role in surgical oncology patients. The sole use of these key nutrients still needs further investigation but the combination of arginine, nucleotides and omega-3 fatty acids has been shown to play a detrimental role in especially the malnourished oncology surgery patients regarding shortening lenght of hospital stay and the reduction of complication rates post operatively.
