Talk Description
There are diverse opinions held by Muslim scholars on the sensitive and culturally loaded issue of relations with the opposite sex. This becomes more of a concern when issues of privacy, dignity, honour and embarrassment come into decision-making. Most health care patients belong to the category or context of people facing “hardship/necessities”
(darurah) and “needs” (hajah) and in valid need of concessions and compassion. This session will look at what the concerns are with the opposite sex, and share some of the key principles and approaches that guide Jurists and Health Workers in decision making when dealing with such diverse and unique cases in their bid to preserve and enhance the life of the opposite sex.
