Talk Description
A difficult colleague in a medical scenario may cause extreme disruption and such disruptive behaviour may prejudice good patient care. It is thus imperative that the question of difficult colleagues be addressed and such colleagues managed in the interests of patients and a collegial rapport. Different facets of managing difficult colleagues will be discussed, inter alia: Communication strategies, understanding why a colleague is acting badly, the use of support mechanisms, the role of physician burnout and physician impairment.
