Talk Description
The need for homebased care has become more prevalent in today's time. Patients with chronic illness, temporary incapacity, or palliative care and their need for homebased care has seen a definite rise within our community. My presentation covers the various types of caregivers and their qualifications, from the professional nurse to the basic caregiver needed at home. The levels of care that each of these caregivers can offer will depend on the condition and the severity of the patient. For example, homebased dialysis, monitoring of continuous vital signs, intravenous therapy, basic daily care etc. The type of training that is available to these caregivers. Full spectrum from university nursing degree, to short courses offered to caregivers. Also, the cost involved in both the training of caregivers and current rates of the different types of caregivers.
